Dear Visitor to our site
At Marcy Blum Associates, we create weddings and other celebrations for special occasions. I launched the company in 1986 after having spent many years in the restaurant and catering business in New York City. Because I am a graduate of both Performing Arts High School and The Culinary Institute of America, my team and I take special pride in producing events where the entertainment and décor are elegantly theatrical, the food is delicious and creative, the wines are thoughtfully chosen and the service is spectacular.
We have been lucky enough to create the weddings of Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, Padma Lakshmi and Salman Rushdie, Colin Hanks and Samantha Bryant and Billy Joel and Katie Lee. We have produced all sorts of other fantastic events including a very exciting 50th birthday celebration for Donny Deutsch, several of the original marketing events for Comedy Central, the five story party for the opening of Societe General in New York City, parties for Regis and Joy Philbin, and celebrations for members of the Rockefeller family. We also have created memorable events for many less well known but equally wonderful brides and grooms, corporations and bar/bat mitzvah kids.
High points of my career include co-authoring the best selling Wedding Planning for Dummies and The Wedding Kit for Dummies, (I am currently in the midst of updating it for a new edition) as well as being named a Trendsetter by Modern Bride Magazine and receiving the Legacy Award last year from the International Special Events Society. I was also named one of the countrys five best planners in an article in The New York Times Magazine.
I have published articles based on my particular take on entertaining for The Huffington Post, Junebug Weddings blog, Town and Country and In Style Weddings and I have been a guest on dozens of tv shows including Oprah, The Today Show, Live with Regis and Kelly, CNBC Reports, Top Chef, Roccos’ Dinner Party and most recently, The Nate Berkus Show.
I am often a speaker at industry conferences including the prestigious “Engage” events for luxury wedding professionals as well as Event Solutions and The Special Event Convention and have been to Japan several times to be a speaker at conferences there..
I have branded us as “eventistes”, originally somewhat tongue in cheek, but I coined it because all of the traditional synonyms for “event planner”, didn’t quite encompass the broad range of what we do
We definitely have opinions over here, but, while we will guide you in the right direction, we recognize at all times that it is your event, not ours. Our style is an amalgam of 27 years of experience blended with an acute awareness of what is new, fresh, and innovative.
We love what we do partially because every day feels like a treasure hunt for new ideas. I look forward to hearing from you.
My best regards
